2011 Top 10's Part II

There are far too many skateboarding photos to pick a simple "Top 10", so I've narrowed it down to 2011 Skateboarding's Top 10 Precious Moments

Spring had sprung with snow still in the bowl and Will Power with a lay back 5-0

Meeting new friends and skateboarding at San Cosme under the bridge in Mexico City. Osiel with a tail slide.

To date, this is one of my favourite photos I've taken since the first day I ever picked up a camera. Mark with a kick flip over the gap.

Daniel with a late grab indy air over the spine at the Edge Skatepark's final session.

Austin helping break in the new Edge Skatepark with a mean lien to tail..

Any day watching Josh Thorvaldson skate is a good day.

Being invited to go east with the boys from Venice Beach on the Chip and Pepper Skate Team tour. Jesus Esteban with a fs ollie in Thunderbay's wicked pool at the Marina Park.

New school meets old school. Grady with a fs ollie at Winnipeg's Chornick Park.

A shot from one of the much needed sessions at "the warehouse" before the snow was all gone. French with a fs rock n' roll

Brendon Sanderson throws down at the P&S Issue II Zine Launch Party.

It goes without saying that any photo from sessions at the freshly built "angry ramp" could have made this list but alas...we're already at 10. It's good to know 2011 provided so many of these precious moments that it was a challenge to narrow it down to 10.

Happy New Year peoples!

2011 Top 10's Part I

Last year I posted a Top 10 selection of Boys and Girls photos I had taken in 2010.

This year I'm going to expand the selections to a few more categories. It goes without saying that my favourite images taken either ended up on a gallery wall or on the pages of P&S Zine Issue # 1, 2 or already gracing the pages of #3 which is currently being worked on. So we'll stick to the photos previously posted on the blog itself.

Let's get things started with the girls...

Xenia the Spanish tutor.

Mother to be...Sydney

Grady's lady...Megan

The very talented...Ida

The infamous Danika

Chelsea the queen of awesome.

Skateboarding sisters Cassandra and Courtney

Caitlin at The Forks

The most camera shy person I have ever known...Amanda

Saving the best for last... skateboarding, trash metal loving, Falafalito eating buddy and voted by us the# 1 person in all of Mexico...Pilar!

More top 10's coming...hang tight!

We're not in Kansas anymore...

...ok we were never in Kansas, but we're currently sitting in a hotel room watching Alex Doyle videos.

That's that.

It's Wednesday already?

Last night I did the unthinkable. I left my camera at home and headed out to the Sk8 Skates Christmas party to mingle with skateboard type folks and witness some Clowns N' F'N Roses perform. It was entertaining to say the least, but without any documentation, Monday quickly turned in to Wednesday...so here we are.

Quite possibly the first transfer out of the new bowl at the Egde Skatepark; Mitch Lavoie doesn't just transfer to the giant bank, he transfers to the narrow bank on the hubba! Why not...he's Mitch Lavoie!

It's a dirty job...

...but hat never stops him. Number one sun with his blunt fakie on lock.

All the artists have been sizing up the walls at the Edge. They are virgin no more! Landen Stachiw got first crack!

Bram's in the batter's box.

It's from Bram...it's going to be wicked!

That's that.

Game Face

Grady brought his game face for this evening's session at the Angry Ramp.

After three hours of skateboarding and three minutes of picture taking...that's all I got. For now...

Christmas is cancelled this year.

We miss Mexico City and we miss our friends south of two borders! Here's some holiday cheer from Halen Chicas featuring our friend Bona.

La Navidad se cancela este año.

The Cam Sandwich

I was pleasantly surprised and stoked yesterday to hear I made Ace Burpee's "Most Fascinating Manitobans of 2011" Top 100 List

I guess it makes sense. You take a slice Gail Asper and a slice of Mark Chipman, slap a Cam Nikkel #69 in between and you get a Cam Sandwich?

In all seriousness, it was much appreciated and this news easily made it high up on the list of reasons why yesterday was a great day in general! Thank you!

Twas a night or two or three before Christmas...

...and it's not too late to grab that special someone (this includes yourself) that special gift to put under the tree which will ultimately take care of that atrocious empty spot on your wall!

As in the past I have enlisted a friend to help keep the size of these prints in perspective.

Super rad artist/new friend Dee with the 16x16" "Legs" Giclee that was shot with my medium format in 2011.

20x30" "My Life"

The above prints and more have been added to the online store. These are all 1 of 1 edition prints with the exception of "legs". We liked that one so much we made 2 of them and lowered the price!

Where can I get one?

I have explained to a few people in the past that good intentions on their own won't likely get you where you'd like to be. I feel that I can confidently say that when I set out to do something or follow through with an idea, that this happens more often than not.

A fall/winter line for P&S is a perfect example. This hooded sweatshirt isn't even out yet!

There's a good reason for that. We have an unwritten rule around here. Life first, making new shirts...somewhere after first. We like to keep our priorities in check.

We like these sweatshirts and good things come to those who wait right? So eventually we'll get around to making them available to you! We promise.

Food, friends and the fashionista...

First order of business yesterday was meeting our friends for lunch at boon. It's not uncommon for us to post about food now and again. This is less about the food or the restaurant itself, but the company we keep.

Amanda and...

...Jordy are often down to meet up for good vegan eats. Food is just as good of an excuse as any to get out and see your friends!

Speaking of friends. One of the best kind of friends to have is the cook himself! Andrews makes good food...so go pay him a visit and get down with the good stuff.

On a side note...who was it that started the "rabbit ears" behind people's heads in photos? If kids had their way...there would be a pair in each picture ever taken!

After lunch we met up with someone I would refer to as a fashionista. It's simple... Jessica is passionate about fashionable matters.

She's fun, we like her, we shot her...with cameras obviously. More on that later so stay tuned.

Strangelove

Last weekend's inaugural session at our indoor oasis most recently dubbed the "angry ramp" helped us figure out what would make this ramp the best it could be. So after another week of hard work by the crew, we were back to putting on the finishing touches this weekend.

Reckless Ross.

French.

The man known as Grady when we are referred to as "you guys and Grady".

Number one getting psyched!

After all is said and done we have achieved our goal! Indoor awesomeness!

Grady with a heel flip.

We love our ramp!
