Drive by shooting. Part I

One of the things I enjoy the most from photography is getting up close and personal to the subject and often their story. Having said that, we can't always do everything the same way and that's why every once in awhile I think it's also fun to change it up and challenge myself to take a different approach. The last time I took this approach I posted some drive by shooting photos taken one Saturday afternoon while in Toronto.

A few weeks ago while taking a break from being the "wheel man", I got another opportunity for drive by shooting while taking a trip from Corydon Ave. to Henderson Hwy. They're not always in focus and composition is obviously a challenge at 10-50km/hr, but sometimes the results are still fun. They also tell a story that leaves a little bit more to the imagination as there is no dialogue between subject and photographer.

If you live anywhere near Corydon, then Candace commuting on her bike is probably a familiar site.

This is Winnipeg. It's winter for the majority of the year, but we still maintain the crown for the Slurpee Capital of the world. So it isn't uncommon to come across scenes like this...

Mental note

I came across this photo taken on my camera a while back after Faith took it for a test drive. I loved the shot. It also reminds me that I REALLY need to run a roll of film through the Agfa!

I'd be curious to see the results. Stay tuned...

Wise up!

We don't need "Throwback Thursday" , we'll post from the archives whenever we feel like it!

Early 90's in front of the West End Cultural Centre. Alan and Clint? Vincent Massey youth crew? Something like that anyway.

Neighborwoods

Aymie Spitzer from Neighborwoods dropped us a line to let us know about her vintage map product line. Here's her story...

Here's a sample of the skateboard version.

We can dig it. Thanks for sharing Aymie!

Darnell

Darnell lifts. Darnell bench presses. Darnell trains. Darnell dives. Darnell shoots photos. More on all of that later. In the meantime, Darnell skates (in Florida) in this video.... Enjoy!

Rewind

Being on "the mend", makes me miss skateboarding something fierce. Shouldn't be much longer now until I'm back on the board. Looking at skateboarding photos makes me miss it even more. Regardless, found some skateboarding related photos on the last roll of film I processed from Malcolm's Random Edge Session.

Malcolm.

I met "Frenchie The Voyageur" today. We talked about photography. He asked me if I took photos of ghosts. I told him no. He told me he does...Vikings, Civil War soldier, Oasama Bin Laden to name a few. I only hope I see Frenchie again soon! He promised me a collaboration on some of his projects.

Brass power!

Creepy.

You can ignore the Surgeon General if you'd like, but eventually the undertaker will catch up with you.

Yes, all of this went down at the flea market today.

P&S Zine Issue 3 App for iPad

We interrupt our regularly scheduled program to take a moment to thank those who have taken the time to download issue 3 of our zine on their iPads. To us, the whole point of making our photo zine available in more than just the paper format is to extend our reach. So far the zine has been downloaded in Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Poland, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand! We'd say mission accomplished! Thank you!

Haven't downloaded it yet? Click on the link for details!

Hate Mail

We received an e-mail yesterday. It wasn't hate mail, but a simple inquiry if we were alive or not. We knew eventually someone would notice our absence from the world wide web. We merely turned our back on the web for a short internet vacation. We'd send flowers to all of you to say we're sorry, but that wouldn't be a sincere gesture. We're never sorry to be too busy for digital life. We'll say sorry and share an analog moment show in B&W that was taken during the 12 Days of Danika.
