The last to know.

Usually we do our best to stay on top of local skateboarding news, but this time around we have failed you. Yesterday was the first we heard about a skate park in Elmwood. Today there was even a mention of it in the local paper. Just in case we weren't the very last to know...

This is Elmwood!

This is their skate park!

It's crowded and tight, but we'll be back for a test run sooner than later. Stay tuned.

A Day in the Parks Part V

For the final installment of our last Sunday's adventures, we're right back to where we started...the snake run! Ryan Martin! Frontside grind, frontside ollie and... frontside boneless!

That's that!

A Day in the Parks Part III

I'm not sure if everyone who achieves great feats goes about it in the same way, but I know Grady Kuly plans his in advance. He often gives me a heads up like "today I am going to do "fill in the blank"! This time it was a heel flip from one bank to the next over the VERY LARGE gap.

Set your goals. Accomplish your goals! The Grady Kuly way!

A Day in the Parks Part I

In my opinion; amongst the common rails, stair sets banks and one lonely quarter wall, this thing is one of the more enjoyable and unique parts of Fort Garry Skatepark...

The snake run.

Random Act of Kindness

The other day we shared our story about how Number One Son left his iPod Touch in the skate park. A lesson was learned in how to take better care of you belongings as we not only assumed he was down one iPod Touch, but the photos, videos and memories that went with it. Yes, there are many people with worse problems in this world, but none the less... still a set back to us.

We learned a whole new lesson a few days later. There are many types of people in this world. Some unfortunately are like the person trying to sell an iPod Touch without headphones or a charger on Kijiji the day after Number One Son's goes missing and won't respond to e-mails when you reach out to them and explain the situation. Then there are others (a total anonymous stranger in this case) that see an opportunity to turn a frown upside down under the circumstances and do just that. After the word got out that we were on the hunt to find the missing device "Anonymous" sent a brand new iPod Touch our way. Mind blowing! As you can tell by the smile...this random act of kindness and generosity was greatly appreciated!

Plugging in the new device and seeing the option pop up to "restore" the 2,400+ photos and videos that were thought to be lost for good, was an added bonus and then some!

Thank you Anonymous! We will be sure to pay it forward!

Double Take with Sven Bazé

Hailing from Montpellier, France; Sven Bazé has been residing in Winnipeg for the last couple of years. That's the good news. Recently he informed me that he's soon to be homeward bound. That's the bad news (for those of us in Winnipeg anyway).

The first time I saw him on a skateboard I told myself... photograph Sven! Since time is essentially running out, I wasn't going to let the next opportunity to slip by without capturing said photograph. I took two! Hopefully they won't be the last ones!

Super clean frontside rock on the extension.

Frontside feeble.

That's that!
