Shortest winter ever?

If you think about it...we were skateboarding outside until mid-November and started skateboarding outside again in early March. We've only had to hide indoors for 3 months and change. For Winnipeg weather...that's something to appreciate!

Phil taking a gamble with the "Lottery" contest. Names of tricks were put in a hat, pulled out and called out. Everyone scrambled to be the first person to land each trick for points. A fun little twist.

Diemonds

Here are some pictures from Monday's The Ex-Girlfriends, Dirty Penny and Diemonds at The Albert.

Dirty Penny

If I had to sum up Diemonds with one word, I'd use "Lovely". Anyone who knows me would tell you that my opinion is... if it's going to be hard rock, it might as well be hardocre. They'll also tell you that I can't stand it when hardcore bands stand on stage like statues, so I'm here to tell you that Diemonds is the exception for me. Good solid hard rock with a performance that's a guaranteed good time for all.

Kim had a great time....

...and if you're still not convinced to check em' out when they come to your town...

The Visitor

A situation at work this past Friday had us headed south for the weekend at a moments notice. So as far as the U.S.A. was concerned I was The...

First order of business after the 45 minute delay courtesy of Customs was heading out for a repeat of the same dinner the last time we were south of the border as seen in an older post. Last time was Fargo, this time was Grand Forks. Same restaurant, same meal, same umbrellas

The East Grand Forks bridge was closed Minnesota bound.

This was a glimps of the high waters at the only bridge left open.

I am hoping someone can explain to me the purpose of wheelchair access to dual staircases?

I am assuming that local skateboarders have some long distance ollie skills due to the little rubber thingys at the end of each sidewalk...and then someone adds this stop sign for good measure.

That's that.

Nice people, doing nice things ...The sequel

...I may have donated some prints for this event. If that doesn't get you to come out...do it for the cupcakes! You won't regret it.

Canadian Hemophilia Society-Mantoba Chapter-2010 Gala Dinner

Last night was the 7th annual Gala Dinner for the CHS Manitoba Chapter. This was my 4th year in attendance to support roommate # 1 and his cause.

Sure Jon Ljungberg from Breakfast Television was there and Winnipeg's Mayor Sam Katz, but I tracked down some celebrity sightings more relevant for the purpose of Pancakes and Skateboards.

John Campbell was the event photographer for the evening and is seen here sampling the fine goods accompaning the five course meal.

Roommate # 2 missed the beard growing contest at the 2010 Festival du Voyageur, so he thought he'd try to win some points with the craziest beard at Gala 2010?

Just when you were wondering if this blog had anything to do with skateboarding...I give you the most unexpected celebrity sighting of the evening. The creator of the Green Apple legacy Roan and his girlfriend Erin.

This was part of one of the raffle prize packages. It was a mini lap top with an array of Mercedes Benz aparrel. I thought it would be hillarious rolling up to the skate park in my 58' 219 head to toe in Mercedes gear. No such luck

This is where I fit in to the Gala picture... Every year I donate some printed art to raise money at the silent auction. This year I donated this 46x29.5" giclee print and the first pressing of my "I don't want to be your wedding photographer book" (see previous post). Both the print and the book took in $350 each, bringing the grand total generated from my work for this cause over $3500 to date!

The evening ended with some Retro Rythm Review. A local 10 pc act putting the final touches on the evening.

I don't want to be your wedding photographer

Today's low: ambulance rides and hospital visits

Today's high: First pressing of my latest creation. This is 1 of 1 and it's going up for auction tomorrow night. More on that later. This is just a teaser. I will be doing a run of these books soon and when they are available for purchase I'll post all of the info of course as soon as it's good to go!
