A weekend re-cap. Grads, skate contests and lowriders...

I was asked to document part of a friend's grad festivities this year. A perfect excuse for getting off work early on a beautiful Friday afternoon.

While editing the photos I felt this one was "in the moment" and decided it was one of my favourites.

After the grad photos it was back to working on my friend's "secret project" in hopes of getting it ready for Saturday morning. Unfortunately we ran in to a technical snag that could not be remedied in time.

The most politically incorrect wiring legend.

...the wiring.

A teaser...

...and chrome. As always...I love chrome!

As per the previous post;Saturday was the Etnies Qualifiers in Winnipeg. It turns out that Jamie Mospanchuk took 1st place to my understanding with Colin Lambert taking 2nd and Adam Lecker 3rd!

Kyle throwing a disaster in to one of his lines.

I think this kids name is Sky (spelling?). He was throwing it down!

The boys from Blumenort couldn't help but grab my attention during a bowl session while the contest was going down at The Plaza. Josiah was doing blunt stalls, one footed blunts and more on this random chair found by the bowl

I'm glad I had the FM2 with me on Saturday as well. I caught some classic shots, this being one of them.

...Sunday it rained.

All eyes on Josh

I need to polish my skills as far as photo journalism goes. I have the photos, but didn't stick around for the end of contest results at the Winnipeg Qualifiers for Etnies Am Getting paid this weekend. So stay tuned for that as I will no doubt re-post the results after someone else gets around to it.

I can tell you this... Adam Lecker drew oohs and awwws from the spectators and Jamie Mospanchuk delivered some flawless runs with fluid style to say the least.

The one local skater on the Pancakes and Skateboards radar is Josh Thorvaldson. Not only does he land one solid trick after another...he breaks out unexpected tricks at every turn.

Starting of a run with a crazy ollie gap....large gap!

Throwing in a quick kick flip over the "big 3"

Thank you Josh!

More Etnies Qualifiers coverage to come, but first...time to skate.

Nollie Big Spin. Skater?

Lucas rock-fakie in the bowl.

The bowl dudes.

Red Riding Media had a little game of S-K-A-T-E going.

rewind to Saturday

Analog hosted a BBQ at Komenda Skate Park this past Saturday.

The morning rain wasn't enough to hold back skateboarders and BBQ lovers.

Short one skate key or wrench; Mike McDermott makes some adjustments with whatever was available at the moment.

Mike resumes with a backside flip.

Cole wins some shoes...the end!

Totally kidding. Good times were had, locals were representing and I had to flee early to yet another BBQ!

Check out Winnipeg Skateboarding blog for some more coverage and some David Seburn photos of the event.
