Don't tread on me...

It wasn't in the card's for me to see the Cro-Mags when they toured with GBH in 1986 and played in Winnipeg two nights in a row, but I must have listened to the live mix from the show at Wellingtons from one of those nights a few hundred times between then and now to enjoy the audio version as it was all I had.

Almost a decade ago now on some random Thursday in the middle of the summer I was asked "want to rent a car and drive to to Hamilton and Toronto today?"...There was some mention of seeing The Promise in Hamilton on the Friday night and No Warning in Toronto on Saturday. I was intrigued, but not sold or understanding why I was being asked as neither of those bands as good as they are, were my favourites. I understood why I was being asked when the following sentence dropped: "Cro-Mags are playing in Toronto as well". Five hours later we were on the road. The rest is history.

Not only did I get to see the Cro-Mags for the first time...the entire set was dedicated to "the guys from Winnipeg", because apparently when a band catches wind that a small handful of the fans present that afternoon drove 2300km's just to see them play it can make an impression.

That show made my personal top five best live shows ever seen before it even started.
